When it is time to make your new website live, there are a few steps.
- Ask us to "flip the switch" on our end. You'll need to tell us your domain name, which unless you are changing it, will be the domain name you are currently using.
- We will "flip the switch" on our end which will cause our web hosting (servers) to "listen" for your domain name. We'll let you know when we've flipped the switch.
- You will then call the person or company that manages your domain name and ask them to point the A record to a special number. We will send you an email with that number.
The domain name companies usually advise that it can then take 24-48 hours for the domain name change to take place. But, in practice, it tends to happen in a few hours.

FAQ
The person I called is confused?
They should know what to do, but if someone asks, A records are usually set in the DNS settings or DNS zone file.
How do I edit the site once it is live?
After the site goes live, you will be able to login at websites.web4uonline.com and use the same username and password you used to to edit the preview site.
You will no longer need to use the preview site link as you can view the actual website. But, you will now need to click "publish" in the website editor to push your changes to the live site.
What About My Old Web Hosting & Domain Name?
You will want to keep your domain name, but you can cancel your old web hosting when you see that the new site is live.
How can access my old website?
Your ability to access your old site will depend on your web hosting setup. If you logged into edit your old site using your domain name, such www.yourdomainname.com/login then you won't be able to access that login screen for the old website once the new website is live.
If however you accessed your old website through totally separate control panel or FTP access, then you will likely still be able to get to the old website files. It would be best to check with your old website host to be sure. Or, to play it safe, you could copy/paste content from the old website to the new website. Or, you could copy/paste to a Word Document as a quick backup measure.
